Strokes

Adding to my list of favorite prints along with plaid, stripes, polka dots, and weird animal prints, is paint strokes or graffiti.  It draws the eye and can look classic or abstract.  I don't think I'll ever forget Céline's S/S 2014 graffiti paint stroke printed clothing.

This graphic style is something I rarely find when I go out thrifting.  Well who would discard it?!  Not I!  Acevog kindly offered me some clothing from their very thrifty priced amazon clothing line.  When I saw paint strokes I got excited.
Anyway, on to the look.  This knit high low top was from Acevog and I paired it with a recent thrift find, these blue pin striped high waist trousers.

Thrifted Marsala Dress

I see the Pantone color of the year (Marsala) as a neutral.  It goes so well with all the usuals, black, blue, grey, brown etc.
I found this cheongsam collared dress a while ago.  I am beyond glad that it is warm enough to wear it!

Farewell to Sweaters...almost

I might have to force myself to skip over the sweater racks while I'm out thrifting.  Murphey's Law has struck and I have found some great sweaters while the weather is beginning to warm up.

This sweater makes me think of Dolce & Gabbana's spring 2015 line, with the dark colors and contrasting red florals.

Been Out Thrifting

Found something I've been wanting when I was out thrifting at a small shop I was debating whether or not to stop in.  Got some shoes with an interesting heel!  Plus many other weirdly delightful housewares and fashionable things.  Keep a lookout for a haul video.  Or for more instant gratification, instagram @rosencrantz_

Pastel face and Pinstripes

Completely thrifted look today.  White shirt has an adorable rounded collar, I tied it 70s style and tucked in the ends to give it a cropped more casual look.  Wide leg pinstriped pants I've had forever and never plan to get rid of.  And I've been getting a good amount of wear out of these chunky wooden wedges.

On my lips, I put this on my instagram @ rosencrantz_ it is Colourpop's lipstick in Brills, a gorgeous lilac color suitable to my skintone (NC30) and pastel blue tips.

Tessellation and Fur

Two thrift finds that compliment each other so well.  This collar top has an eye drawing tessellation print, a perfect thing to wear on Monday to get the brain gears moving.  This faux fur cardigan was another amazing thrift find.

To Resurrect or Not to Ressurect

from the movie The Sure Thing
Turtle necks underneath sweaters.  They're functional for this undying winter, but they can err on the side of too 80s.
I'm going to take a leap and sport the look today.  I thrifted this fitted jersey turtleneck a while ago and it has this pretty key hole opening in the back.  I'm wearing it backwards today so it can show under this pale pink thrifted sweater.  And voilà thrifted look.

Knock Knock!

And the universe responds, who's there?  Not me, sorry I don't have a clever ending to that joke.
I haven't been loyally posting here or my YouTube channel.  I wish I could say its because I was so busy at New York Fashion Week, but that would be a lie lol.
If you want to catch up with me more regularly I've taken a liking to Instagram so...hope to see you there @rosencrantz_

Dressed up No Place To Go

Ridiculous to some..more like to many, wearing your nice clothes on a hum drum day, but I look at my closet and think of all the cool oddities I've picked up while thrifing and feel that its a shame to wait for some special event to wear them.  Besides, they're comfortable enough to sit around in hah.
I love the exaggerated shoulders on this boxy knit, the shape goes well with this flared skirt.  Add some cotton leggings and voila!  Deceptively comfortable.

Pull Up Them Socks

Because its too cold to go out with open toe shoes and I like the look of socks with 70s chunky heels.

Also I picked up a gorgeous dusty plum blush by Sephora.  Its Sephora Micro Smooth Baked Blush Duo in Tea Rose Tickle...perfect example of not judging by an awful name, this blush is beautiful.  It has a highlight dusty plum and a shimmered deeper plum.  I think this color goes well with Nars Pigalle, a deep earthy shade.

43 Days 4 Hours

43 days until spring.  There are websites dedicated to countdowns and that is the answer I get when I search for spring.  (didn't feel like calculating myself internet does the thinking for me how sad)
I haven't strayed from my usual black, but I've added some springy things...color!  Royal blue cropped top with one of my all time favorite unique finds, this leopard scarf.  Pleated black skirt is a very old thrifted piece circa high school lol.  I'm surprised how crisp the pleats have stayed!  And a new buy, these white cut out bootie sandal type shoes.  Adore!

Metallic Varsity

Somewhat off topic to begin with, but I came home from yoga and was struggling to take down my hair bun and this side bun happened!  lol it might not look like much, but to someone who finds hair to be just an afterthought, this is so pretty!
On to the thrifted look, I have my trusty thrifted wool bubble coat, varsity sweater, black jeans, and a pair of ultra metallic oxfords.
Here's to wishing you too an unexpected surprise for your Thursday.

Simple Shape Changing

Have you tried taking a piece from your wardrobe and changing its shape to make it more interesting?  A favorite piece of mine lately is this over sized plaid t shirt I thrifted, wearing it large and boxy is very modern minimalist, but today I gathered and knotted it to the side for a retro cropped look.
Shorts and hiker boots were also thrifted.

School Lady Dress

I found this wool plaid school lady dress at Goodwill.  It has a deep vneck and I love how it pairs well with a sheer under layer and a faux fur collar.  Its really warm thrifted look, with the exception of the peep toe booties, they will most likely be switched out because of the snow that's on its way.

Experimental Thrift Buy

Here we are for a #throwbackthursday  Another edition on the subject of jeans.  Flared jeans.  A style of denim that would usually make my face cringe.  Mostly for the fact that they are difficult to wear if you're not tall and lean.  I myself am average and well, average.  I find it necessary to wear heels with flared jeans so I don't sink into the image of dumpy and stubby two oh so non desirable appearances lol.
This pair of light wash flared jeans were an experimental thrift buy.  The denim is soft and the flare is subtle, so its a nice place to start.  I paired it with this loose pin striped blouse that looks pajama chic.  And wore them with heels of course!  Wooden chunky wedges to fit the 70s vibe flared denim give off.

and more flared jeans for inspiration!  From left, Dsquared2 2015 Resort, I think going with a high waist flare would be most flattering as it elongates the body.  Middle, from Stockholm Street Style, a casual tomboy look.  Lastly, image source unknown I spotted it on Google images, but dark denim always a more slimming version.
My feelings on flared denim is still lukewarm, but I love experimenting with fashion.  I would never pair it with a big floppy hat, to me, that's overkill, but with other 70s inspired pieces like brown leather, interesting prints, and wooden shoes, that's ok with me.  When in doubt, pair it with something striped.

70s Tribe

A full thrifted look.  Red tribal pattern knit and a recent buy, this Express maxi skirt from way back-it has their old 80s/90s tag.  I like how the buttons stop mid length so there's a good size slit in front, not good size lewd, but still interesting.  The 70s piece are these wooden chunky wedges, they're misleadingly easy to spend the day in.

Happy Friday!

This weekend is going to be somewhat warm and I noticed a few yard sales listed, so here's to hoping for some great oddities to show you later on.
