Bleh I Hate That..Wait

For whatever bizarre reason, if a conversation about polo shirts took place with you and I over coffee, I would likely grimace.
The polo shirt has been reincarnated, but not necissarily in the preppier context that it was from trends in the past.  There are some great mixes of moods with the "new" polo, darker sporty looks, 60s mod, and so on.  Here are a few polo trendy pieces my eye appreciates!
Jil Sander S/S 2015
Fendi Spring 2015
My thrifted look.  This sleeveless polo shirt came home with me because of the colors.  I love blue and red together, but it took me a while to actually put it in my cart, I stood there thinking do I really like a polo neck?  I guess so.
Oh the troubles in the world

Beauty Buys and Cheap Thrills

Recent pickups in the beauty department.  There are a lot of great hits here like ColourPop products and some repurchased staples I keep on my vanity.  If you're in the mood for a lengthy chatty video and some beauty products, click play!

Today was pretty casual.  This new-ish thrifted vintage shirt and some high waist jeans.  The more I look at this shirt the more I wonder is it just me or does it resemble either a 60s men's bowling shirt or scrubs?  I better stop over thinking it hah.

Almost Summer Staple

Surprise!  Not really if you follow this blog.
Eyelet lace.  A top, a dress, a skirt, pants even-if you can find them, that would be a great find!  Eyelet lace is so perfectly functional for the warmer season.  I thrifted this eyelet lace tunic tank.  I like the full upper playful silhouette is gives and then these thrifted skinny cargo pants add more modernism as does these silver metallic sandals.  Have you been wearing eyelet lace?

Most Recent Thrifting

I've succumbed to the 70s trend brainwashing that is all over the fashion magazines!  My eye is naturally drawn to the hypnotizing wild prints and interesting silhouttes.  Come watch!

Edging Up Eyelet Lace

This one shoulder ruffled eyelet lace top was a recent thrift pick up.  Its easy to go boho or girly with a top like this, but I wanted to style it a little more edgy, so pinstriped trousers and lace up sandals it is.

Fringe Trend

Quite a few thrifting excursions ago I found a fringed leather vest, exciting!  I paired it with this crushed 70s denim dress.
This vest is a keeper for sure!  And I love the back too!

Floral Pleated Pants

I was excited the day I pulled these pants off the thrift rack, but that was a while ago, which made me think off all the amazing things I own that don't get much wear.  Its time to dig in the closet and move cool pieces that got us excited to the front.

As for details, makeup is a simple winged liner, bronzer on lower lash line, some early blush with tangerine blush highlight, and a very nude lip.

Neutrals and a Spring Face

I've been wearing tan neutrals with my usual black and white a lot lately, but on my face I will jazz it up with color.  Today's thrifted look is this sleeveless cropped turtle neck with this figure flattering pencil midi skirt. Added stripes to complete the look as stripes do.

as for the details, this is Becca's Skin Souffle in Watermelon Moonstone, a gorgeous shiny pink that works beautifully on the lids as it does on the cheeks.  Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Lodhi, a vibrant coral pink unlike any I've seen before, and Colour Pop's blush in Trickery a bright bright matte pink.

Thrifted Bohemian

Oatmeal sleeveless knit top is a recent thrift find.  This old Express skirt buttons down in front, but I shifted it to the side to give a more interesting look.  I like how the buttons don't go to the bottom so my sandals can peer through.

Gladiator Sandals Trend

Historic footwear from the Roman Colosseum and probably from before then, is reappearing for spring and summer.  Gladiator sandals could go really wrong with overly embellished straps.  I think keeping the statement sandal simple is key to wearing the trend.
Of course I'd love to own a pair of Valentino gladiator sandals, but being thrifty, I look in a more budget friendly direction.

Today's thrifted look are two things I adore, ugly wallpaper patterned shift dress and these new gladiator sandals off of amazon, they were under $40 and good quality.  These sandals also wear really well through the day, the straps don't shrink downwards.
Hooray for warm weather, time to dust off all the odd thrifted dresses.

Cropped Tribe

Wishing you a joyous Friday!  I'm enjoying a warm day, its verging on hot and too humid, but I'll gladly take it!  Today's look is this flowy midi tribal skirt and this cropped navy top I thrifted.
Tomorrow morning is going to be loads of fun.  Yard sale season has begun and I'm hoping to come back to you with oddities and cool spring summer pieces.

Ankles.
Love the look of pants rolled up bare ankles and some great menswear shoes.

Strokes

Adding to my list of favorite prints along with plaid, stripes, polka dots, and weird animal prints, is paint strokes or graffiti.  It draws the eye and can look classic or abstract.  I don't think I'll ever forget Céline's S/S 2014 graffiti paint stroke printed clothing.

This graphic style is something I rarely find when I go out thrifting.  Well who would discard it?!  Not I!  Acevog kindly offered me some clothing from their very thrifty priced amazon clothing line.  When I saw paint strokes I got excited.
Anyway, on to the look.  This knit high low top was from Acevog and I paired it with a recent thrift find, these blue pin striped high waist trousers.

Thrifted Marsala Dress

I see the Pantone color of the year (Marsala) as a neutral.  It goes so well with all the usuals, black, blue, grey, brown etc.
I found this cheongsam collared dress a while ago.  I am beyond glad that it is warm enough to wear it!

Farewell to Sweaters...almost

I might have to force myself to skip over the sweater racks while I'm out thrifting.  Murphey's Law has struck and I have found some great sweaters while the weather is beginning to warm up.

This sweater makes me think of Dolce & Gabbana's spring 2015 line, with the dark colors and contrasting red florals.

Been Out Thrifting

Found something I've been wanting when I was out thrifting at a small shop I was debating whether or not to stop in.  Got some shoes with an interesting heel!  Plus many other weirdly delightful housewares and fashionable things.  Keep a lookout for a haul video.  Or for more instant gratification, instagram @rosencrantz_

Pastel face and Pinstripes

Completely thrifted look today.  White shirt has an adorable rounded collar, I tied it 70s style and tucked in the ends to give it a cropped more casual look.  Wide leg pinstriped pants I've had forever and never plan to get rid of.  And I've been getting a good amount of wear out of these chunky wooden wedges.

On my lips, I put this on my instagram @ rosencrantz_ it is Colourpop's lipstick in Brills, a gorgeous lilac color suitable to my skintone (NC30) and pastel blue tips.

Tessellation and Fur

Two thrift finds that compliment each other so well.  This collar top has an eye drawing tessellation print, a perfect thing to wear on Monday to get the brain gears moving.  This faux fur cardigan was another amazing thrift find.

To Resurrect or Not to Ressurect

from the movie The Sure Thing
Turtle necks underneath sweaters.  They're functional for this undying winter, but they can err on the side of too 80s.
I'm going to take a leap and sport the look today.  I thrifted this fitted jersey turtleneck a while ago and it has this pretty key hole opening in the back.  I'm wearing it backwards today so it can show under this pale pink thrifted sweater.  And voilà thrifted look.

Knock Knock!

And the universe responds, who's there?  Not me, sorry I don't have a clever ending to that joke.
I haven't been loyally posting here or my YouTube channel.  I wish I could say its because I was so busy at New York Fashion Week, but that would be a lie lol.
If you want to catch up with me more regularly I've taken a liking to Instagram so...hope to see you there @rosencrantz_

Dressed up No Place To Go

Ridiculous to some..more like to many, wearing your nice clothes on a hum drum day, but I look at my closet and think of all the cool oddities I've picked up while thrifing and feel that its a shame to wait for some special event to wear them.  Besides, they're comfortable enough to sit around in hah.
I love the exaggerated shoulders on this boxy knit, the shape goes well with this flared skirt.  Add some cotton leggings and voila!  Deceptively comfortable.
